Last week, I received a call a call from a Kathy Foster with Richfield Lending Group. They offered me a $5000. with a 6% interest rate. She said it was a secure loan and I needed to send a deposit of $885 via Wall Mart money gram. Up until that point, I thought it was legit but the RED FLAGS were flying everywhere.. Remembering a previous scam attempt from Craig’s List. I decided to investigate this company I tried to find any information on them through the internet and all I found was this "Yahoo Ask". I was wondering if anyone had actually used them. Well, today I received another call from Kathy Foster. I told her how I tried to research her company and found nothing about them anywhere except on Yahoo Ask. She proceeded to tell me that because of the type of business, they do and having plenty of clients, it was not necessary to advertise. I told her I was very uncomfortable wiring $885 in cash to them when I don’t know her or anything about their company. She said how she completely understood my apprehension and shared a life experience of her own.

Now, I’m finding out it’s all a very elaborate scam. I’m still puzzled… they have spent a great deal of money setting up a very professional sounding automated phone system, and website. They are listed with the BBB although, not accredited. However, the phone numbers are untraceable, they don’t reside at the address listed on all their paperwork or with the BBB. There’s no information on them anywhere other than here on Yahoo Ask. Just for fun, I read some of their “Testimonials” the last testimonial the person identified herself as Loretta at the beginning and signed it Kelly M. (good reads) .

I have decided to take a loan against my 401K. I will be paying the same 6% interest rate, I know the lender (myself), and I pay the debt plus interest to my 401K, which is my money. Sounds like a WIN/WIN situation. I didn’t need $5000, I only need $3000 due to an evil “Payday Loan” addiction I got myself into. NEVER, I MEAN, NEVER GO THERE. Barrow the money from a friend or family member but, make sure to make up a contract, keep receipts & never pay in cash. You want to keep all your cancelled check or money order receipt, etc. (we don’t want to see you on The People’s Court) . Even better, first choice being, barrowing against your 401K, take out a small personal loan through a real bank or a credit union or… even better yet, sell something. Sell a whole lot of stuff.

Sorry you got scammed. That sucks for you. Make sure you teach your kids this lesson so they don't repeat it someday.

Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do if she's 18. Let her make her mistakes, the most you can do is try to talk her out of them. That may jeopardize your relationship with her though. She'll learn.

I am one who almost got scammed by this company. First I found out they are not located at 1777 bldg. I talked to the owner of the building and they verified that Parkway Lending Group is not located there and have scammed other people. The owner of the building also stated that they have contacted the Post office to have any mail stopped for that company. I have also talked to Joshua Redd, the account executive and Mr. Taff in their "customer service dept." They make it sound so real however my gut feelings were that if they could loan me money but I had to pay them $1,025 as a collateral payment, something must be wrong.I began to investigate myself since I work for the Federal govt. I talked to the FTC and lodged a complaint. They are listed with the BBB but are NOT registered. That is a red flag! They should be listed with the Labor License and Regulations in order to do financial business. I am so sorry that you sent them money. I constantly think about where I would be if I had done the same. For anyone that is thinking about working with them or other companies, do the investigation. Take the extra step to call around and see if they are legit. It will be worth the time! Call the BBB, call the FTC, do googles on their addresses and then try and find out if they are really located where they say they are. Just watch out…….and……Watch out for this company! They are slick!

I think this counts as spam… I avoid Prosper.com because if the user defaults, you lose money and the loans are spanned over 3 years. I'd rather invest in a money-market account for liquidity's sake.
